Thread: Strange Name in IE history

Default Strange Name in IE history

My history shows this strange name for history under m715zone(m715zone.com).

These are obviously not printable ASCII characters. It is like one of the pages being served up does not have a title or is scrambled in some way.

This is not new as I have noticed from the very beginning of vbulletin but this is the only site where I see this.

    Partial quote form this page:
    Interesting reading here:
    http://developer.yahoo.com/yui/history/

    · All browsers will forget part or all of the history if the page gets forcibly refreshed. This will happen on Internet Explorer by pressing F5 (sometimes several times repeatedly), and on Firefox by pressing Ctrl+F5 or Shift-Ctrl-R.
    · On Internet Explorer, the title of the documents added to the history, listed in the browser's history drop down menu, is not correct. Instead of showing the title of each document, it shows part of the URL of each page.

    I don't do the F5 thing.

I just made a quick change. This should make a change for this, at least for what you are seeing.

Btw, this 'might' have led to me finding another issue I have been trying to figure out for a while.
If it solves it, I will owe you one!!!

    More observations:

When typed into the address bar this now takes a very long time to load but the main page eventually shows up with a history name "shell folders":
    http://www.m715zone.com/

When typed into the address bar this loads quickly and changed the history name from "shell folders" to the funky characters shown above:
    http://www.m715zone.com/vb/

When selected from the main page (upper left "Forums") this loads quickly
    http://www.m715zone.com/vb/

    Hope this helps!!

Here is a screenshot of captured information from Etheral showing the delay mentioned above. Sorry about the wide image – just want to show it all.

Notice the packets from 62.10.55.10 during the delay.

    What are these?

Dump your history, etc. and see how it's affected now.

Ok -- I dumped everything, ran adaware, used a freeware utility to dump hidden cache. Everything I can get rid of is gone.

Typed www.m715zone into the address bar.

m715zone.com still loaded slow – 107 seconds this time after looking at ethereal.

The DNS resolved immediately (.8 seconds) to 65.181.182.123 (the zone)

Near the end of the delay my browser attempted a query to updaterservice.wildtangent.com with a response of "No such Name". I have the ethereal screen-shot. (maybe a worm or bot—I'll check it out)

After loading the main page, changing the colors, and looking at your post.

    Strange history name is back

My IE cache consists of zone stuff and your weather underground banner -- no other entries.

I now have only one cookie from the zone and no others.

Am I the only one getting this slow loading of the link below?

Hmm, I need to make a few changes.
I will post again after I made the changes, it 'should' solve your issue.

Hmm, not exactly what I wanted to do.
But it should work faster now.
