Thread: Give me some ideas!

    Default Give me some ideas!

So...I decided to keep the 715 a while longer. Looking for ideas for a slight rebuild to make it fresh and fun again.

Basics: Cheby 350, AA Ranger O/D, T98 trans, NP200, stock axles, tubeless rims with XZL's. Dual-fuel (propane/gasoline). 2" body lift on cab & front clip.

Parts I got sitting around, will go in eventually:

CUCV axles (spring over? spring under? coil/4-link?)
    NP205
    Power Steering.

I think I'll remove the propane...maybe ditch the carb, too, and do a DIY TBI on it.

Here's what I got right now ('cept the top is UV rotted and gone)

Ideas? Change the paint? What would y'all drop or add?

Ditto that. Photobucket is holding all my pics hostage.

Mirrors, top, maybe paint, big winch and a new front bumper situation, maybe a big block. The 205 and axles (4 link) and send me your old wheels and tires as a consulting fee.

Different paint, trailing arm coil-spring suspension like that on a G-Wagen or the front of a '66-'77 Bronco. THAT would be cool.

    I'm in process of doing:

Cummins 5.9L, Ford ZF 5-Speed Manual, Ford NP205 swap

Ford Dana 60/Sterling 10.25 Spring UNDER Swap

Power steering, hydroboosted power 4 wheel disc brakes
    Hydraulic Clutch
Relocated Fuel Tank to spare tire area
    12 Volt, all LED lighting
    M998 Mirrors

All to basically say 10 feet away you won't be able to tell a difference.... unless its running or you count the lug nuts

That's where mine is, originally an M724. Don't like it. Been thinking of getting a stock tank and moving it to stock location... one of these days. Can I ask why you're moving yours? Maybe I should leave mine where it is.

    Dp,
The CUCV axle swap will make it feel like a different truck. More part throttle from a stop acceleration speed.

I would suggest a spring under for the swap. I did the CUCV swap on the truck for Sermis spring over. With 12.50-20 tires (40"), the floor board is at my waist. You really have to want to get in the truck before you start that climb.
Remember if you didn't build it you can't call it yours.
