Thread: Stock axle?

  1. #1

    Default Stock axle?

I am putting the axle back together now but it seems that the spindle should have a gasket or something between it and the steering knuckle to keep water out. I checked the manuals but can't find anything on a seal there. Anyone used something to seal this or does it really matter?

Thanks for any help you can give.

There is no gasket, you are correct...the spindle bolts on directly.

Not sure if it would hurt or help to put something there...I think I would leave it without as 40 years of not having one hasnt shown any known issues...

Good point. I was thinking for keeping water out, there are some water crossings on the next planned trail.
    Thanx
