Sorry! Yes. I called N A P A and they couldn't find a #. Went to get some firewood, and when I went to start back up, nothing. Amp meter shows a BIG draw when the started switch is pushed, so I'm thinking it has gone.

The tag on the starter says:

    Prestolite
    MDY 7021 31
    12V

    Hope that helps.

On mine, I just found a place to rebuild it, it ended up being cheaper. Pretty much any electrical shop can do it.

He may not have one and be looking for one to start with....

If you do want to rebuild one, Napa sells a few parts that seem to fit...these are both listed as correct for a 1964 J200 with a Prestolite MDY series starter:

    Starter Bushing - Commutator End
    Item#: ECH5289
    Attributes:
Product Features:Solid - Oil Retaining Bronze Composition
    I.D.:.472"
    O.D.:.596"
    Length:.711"

    Starter Brush
    Item#: ECHA520
    Price: $4.29
    Attributes:
    Product Features:Two single brushes and one double brush. Dim: .500 x .6875 x .3437

I would bet a good rebuilder shop can get everything for it...the Prestolite seies are pretty common and used on a wide variety of vehicles.

    Unhappy

Well the rebuild shop closed, so as of now I am looking for a replacement. It seems none of the parts p;aces around here can match up the #'s.
