Thread: what do the markings say

Again maybe yes maybe no....When the truck was demilled. Taken out of military service all markings etc are to be removed. Sometimes it gets done and sometime it doesn't. Also the truck would have sat in the military junk yard (DRMO) until picked up by a state agency (fire dept, sherifs etc) or sold at auction. During its stay there someone from the army could have come by and needed the bridegeplate for their truck that was missing it and was allowed to remove it from the truck. Or it was removed by the unit who had the truck before they turned it in so that the plate could be used on another vehicle. Just a couple of possibilities. So maybe yes maybe no. If you want on on the truck put it on if you don't....don't.

Yeah...its a matter of personal preference now...no one can say whether or not it had one unless you can find someone who was in the service AND with that truck at the same time to verify...good luck with that miracle!!
It is not incorrect to go with or without.

It would have a C at the top and an 04 at the bottom...for an M715 without a trailer

I was thinking the same as Bumpr on the "c". No c with truck only and c for truck trailer combo. I am thinking that I saw this in a manual somewhere. Isn't there a manual on markings and bridge ratings etc? Dave

Yeah, C is forthe combo...when you have a trailer...the end of the Quirks manual, linked in the Online manuals link over on the left, tells/shows the M715 family info.

    Default Hardtop or canvas?

Ok guys how about a 6 in a yellow circle on the bumper and a 5 in a yellow circle on the passenger door? There was also some kind of mark by the 6 on the bumper in the circle but I never could sand it right to decipher it.

    Hey, guys, we wuz WRONG!

The "C" on top of the bridge plate stands for Cross-country, NOT "combination" vehicle - thus it is supposed to be displaved always.

Use the "4" if no trailer, "5" with trailer (painted "4" stays the same.

Seriously, check out the quirks manual. RFM, ZOGN, RFM!
