Yes, in my experience WIX makes the NAPA filters.

I just looked at the link that MJCougler posted and noticed that the stock sized 51515 unit will filter down to 21 micron but the larger 2 quart version (51773) is rated only to 32 micron. Better stick with the original size for better filtration. I think the larger version is meant more for farm equipment.

    Default Extended length oil filters

    Cornholio,

Good catch! When I looked at the specs, I didn't even notice the micron rating. Interesting that they would have two filters on their assembly line, and to have a different micron (size) filter rating. Would this mean they are using a different paper medium? Why not use the finer filtering paper on both filters? And, the two quart filter is only 2 inches longer than the 5-inch filter. That volume of a cylinder math problem is incorrect. Things that make you go Hummm!

Yes he was! Just a figure of speech. A friend of mine used that expression in the 70s. I was surprised when I heard a similar version, "...Since Moby Dick was a sardine..." on American Hoggers and had to laugh out loud.

But back to the OP, I saw a cut-away of the NAPA filter at their store next to cut-aways of of other brands. The NAPA filter had more "guts" and the others looked rather sparse with less paper in the interior.

Check out carquest oil filter no. 85773. It's twice as big but has the same specs as the original and in my opinion looks alot better compared to stock

We went with a Mann Filter W940/1, fits perfectly.
