Default Help with hood and bumper numbers

    Hello,
I am looking for help with figuring out what the hood and bumper numbers mean on my truck:

    "FRC" (passenger side bumper)
    "FE 176" (drivers side bumper)
    US Army 03A 86069 (hood)

    Anybody have a guess?

FE 176 is probably Fort Eustis 1st of the 76th or vehicle 176. FRC is probably Forward Range Control.
The USA is your trucks registration number.

Most likely your truck was at Fort Eustis and was used on one of big ranges used for arltilirary....some place where they had to go out a ways into the woods to observe impact and to keep people out of the area etc. ie range control.

Ok so what consensus do we have...I say FRC is forward Range Control and FE is Fort Eustis. Beast said Field Engineer and wasn't sure on FRC....Anyone else want to give it a go?

I don't think the FE stands for Fort Eustis because it is on the right side of the bumper. According to the TM's on markings, "Army post, camps, stations, depots, and arsenals should be on the left (pass)side of the bumper under the intermediate commands or organizations." The right (drivers) should have "markings which will appear on the right side are unit markings which denotes company, battery, or other small unit. The last marking on the right denotes the vehicle number in the unit. In tactical type units, vehicles will be numbered in the sequence of their normal order of march."

The way it breaks down is that on the left should be
    1. Major command
    followed by
    2. Intermediate command

    On the right is the
    1. Unit or activity
    followed by
    2. Vehicle number
