    All,

Anyone with some advice on weatherstripping around the cab doors? Most of the weatherstripping is gone now.

    Thanks

Standard issue stuff right outta the JC Whitney catalog. Owner did mine just before I bought it. Nothing special to it. Buy it in roles from JCW and glue away.

OK, good idea. I know I'll need some pretty thick stuff at the bottom of both doors as there's quite a gap there.

    Thanks

Stan, you might check on weatherstripping for a wag. Everything is the same from the door sill down. JC whitney is what I was going to suggest when I spotted the title to this thread. BJ's offroad has most all weatherstripping for wags. Try this if jC doesn't work for you...

That was my impression too. That bjsoffroad stuff was pricey as well. I looked in my JC Whitney catalog and I think I can get something together (cheaper) from there. Need to take the catalog out to the truck and see what looks right.

I used FSJ weatherstripping and it works fine. You will need to grab some extra to do the removable frame/cab bow assembly area becase on an M715 door, you have 2 90 degree bends (top corners) where on a civilian FSJ, you have only 1 90 degree bend. The windshield bend is at a different angle because of the slope. Grab it at a U pick it yard an they might not charge you too much. If you get it from a newer FSJ, you'll have better luck finding one that isn't ripped up. When you go to a junkyard, bring a phillips screwdriver and a hammer. Use the hammer to pound on and loosen the rusty screws that hold down the sill plate. Remove the screws and you can just pull the weatherstripping off. While you're at it, now you've also just removed all that's holding you back from adding carpet to your truck. The front piece of FSJ carpet fits great in front.

Cut the weatherstripping where the cab bow and winshield parts connect/disconnect so that you can glue the weatherstripping on and still be able to remove your cab bows for summer driving and fold down that windshield. After all, isn't that one of the reason's we all love these things? <g>

Actually the earlier wags like mine have weatherstripping on the door. The later stuff has it on the sill plate. BJ's is pricey. I priced out a rubber kit with all rubber for every door including T gate and new window channels, felt ect.... Close to a 1000.00 bucks!!!!! OUCH. Thankfully they give a FSJ member discount. I'll have to save up for that one...
