    Does anyone else have a transmission whine in 4th gear?

    Not to question you but could the noise be coming from transfer case? they are notorious whiners. Where in Tejas are you?

    It could be the x-fer case, I just assumed it was the tranny cause I only notice it in 4th gear. I'm about 120 NW of San Antonio in Menard.

    M715's typically have a transfercase whine. Many members have reported it is quite loud at highway speeds.
    It is normal for these trucks Moving the rear driveshaft from the center to the right side yoke on the rear of the transfercase should quiet it down considerably. Others also report their transfercase gets really hot when running continuouly at high speeds. I'm not sure if anyone knows why or how to make them run cooler.
