    Default wiper trouble

Hey guys, have any of you replaced your wiper arms for something newer, mine just don't have enough pressure against the windshield to clean so they just don't do the job. I'm preparing my ride for a long trip and don't want to go with out wipers.

    any sugestions?

    this is my 715.
    Regards,

You might try either replacing the springs in the arms or shortening the stock ones- that should pull the arms against the glass better. Don't know if they have Harbor Freight in your area, but they sell an assortment for a few bucks.
Either that or measure the arm/blade length and hit the boneyard for another set that fits a half inch knurl like the stockers...

Maybe swap out all the original stuff for the CJ7 stuff. I put the CJ wiper motor and all the linkage arms on mine and it works perfect. It is literally a 15 minute job except for the wiring. Gwen also did this mod. or you may be able to use CJ wiper arms on the original vacuum motors, but I am not sure they will fit.

Be careful of 'too' much pressure, they aren't very powerful motors. 02.

Unless the springs have failed, the stock arms seem quite strong - how hard do you have to pull to lift them off the glass? You might try better wiper blades if the springs aren't bad, or new springs if they are...

somebody earlier in the thread mentioned getting an assorted pack of springs from harbor freight.

you could also try your local hardware store, they may have assorted springs available for sale. or even napa might have some. they don't have to be exact stock replacements...

I got new arms and wipers from NAPA.... Don't have the part numbers on hand, but I've posted them up - run a search.
