    Default Motor decision

Ok guys, decision time...'67 M725, t-98, no motor currently.

Was going to do a '79 Jeep 360 motor, runs, but not sure of overall condition. Bought the flywheel, as the donor has a bad TH400. Could do new input shaft for T-98, then need clutch, etc.

Just got a line on a rusty Chebby truck that has a GM crate 350 (carb) with a recently (<2 years) rebuilt 700r4 and xfer case (not sure which one)

    Soooooo here's the poll:

I did the 350 to T98 adapter first, had problems with the adapters. Put a T350 in, wish I had done it the first time. Simply AWESOME! For trail riding, you can't beat a slushbox!

Normally, I would agree, but kinda neat to have 3 shift levers...do you still have your adapter stuff? I would consider trying that first. Thanks.

LoL! too many 4s in that line! I'm leaning towards the 350/700r4 combo just for simplicity and cost. the fewer adapters i have to buy, the less likely the wife will kill me.

I can always go with the 700r4 and a floor shifter, then pull the stick stuff out and rework at my own pace. (read probably never) I just really want to get this thing on the road.

    thanks all for your advice.

Right now I have 350-T350 with np 200,not bad lots of power but 55mph @ 3200 rpm's and 10 mpg.

in the building stage- 350-700r4-divorced np 205

My adapters loosened up, put a funky load on the crankshaft through the pilot bushing, and took out the main bearings in the 350. Twice. Third times a charm, hooked up to the t350 as nature intended. Life is good ever since, aside from the t350 puking fluid through the dipstick, but that's another thread.

I believe I threw the adapters on the trash heap, never to be seen again. Along with the T98.

I'd lean towards the diesel myself, but that wasn't an option so I picked the 350 with the 700r4. Now if you could find say a 6.2/6.5 with that trans or even a durimax...then you'd have something...But I like to dream big with other peoples money...lol
