    Default My Build

I just wanted to start my build thread. Right now it’s more of a gathering of parts since I am in Afghanistan. I have some big plans and a large pile of parts already. I will start out with my list of parts I have already and then what I have planned.

I already did the master cylinder upgrade when I was on my last R&R but that’s all I got done.

    The list;
    383 SBC short block
    Turbo 400 with NP205
Edelbrock Performer intake and cam kit
Holley truck avenger 770 cfm carb
    Patriot Performance cylinder aluminum heads
    Novak motor mounts
    Block hugger ceramic headers
    Flaming River column
Full set of Autometer Cobalt gauges
LED oval flush mount tail lights

Now I need to figure out what I need next. I am trying to get all the big ticket parts to get everything bolted up and rolling when I am on my next 2 week R&R.

I Need a wiring harness, cooling system, and the rest of the little stuff for the motor.

I haven’t decided on what axles I want to go with. I have been back and forth on stock or rockwells. If I stay stock I will get the 41 inch IROK’s and some MRW bead locks if I go with the rocks I will run 14 r 20’s with MRW bead locks and both will be turned with the PSC hydro assist steering.

I have 2 months until I am back in the states and I will post all sorts of pics as soon as I can

Looks like its going to be the rockwells and 14 R20's. I found both on ebay that I am bidding on then just need to figure out what backspacing and order the MRW beadlocks.

Sounds good, I've got parts piles too for my truck. Already got my rocks, hydro assist, BBC 454, 21.5 X 16.1 Goodyear terras. Maybe one day I'll get'er all togather!

    Keep buildin' it up!

Make sure you can still get it on a trailer--sugar beet fields down in saginaw might get old after awhile

I will try having my dad snap a few pictures next time he is dropping parts off. He said the bed is getting full.

I am lucky enough that my dad is a manager at a large Car Quest store with a full machine shop so my motor is getting a rebuild and I have access to all the shelves to search for just the right parts to make things work.

Here is what I am starting with. The doors have a little surface rust from the PO sanding off the FD logo and not priming the area. the only other area is the bed has a hole cut in the floor for the water tank plumbing.
