Thread: Stock carb kit info

From my experience, if you need an esoteric part for the M715, the best source of the part is ABLinn, Archer Bros, Memphis, Saturn Surplus, Surplus city, and VPW (ordered by typical price for comparable parts). These vendors are experienced in military vehicles and know what fits and what doesn't and have pretty large stockpiles of NOS and replacement parts.

As most of you are aware (or will become aware of shortly), the local auto parts suppliers know little to nothing about repairing cars today, much less about trucks made 40 years ago that aren't on their computer systems.

You may have to wait a little bit to get the part via mail, but often that is less time spent than searching numerous catalogs at NAPA only to find that the parts are unavailable or don't fit.

    Just my $0.02.

That might be the way to go. So is it complete or not?

The carb rebuild kit you get from Memphis is complete.

FYI, I have attached a picture of the "complete" carb kit from Memphis Equipment along with the receipt. It contains a few more parts than just the "gaskets". If this is "incomplete", please let me know what is missing.

If someone told me that a carburetor rebuild kit contained nothing more than a few gaskets, I would have asked for someone else to help me since they obviously didn't have a clue about what is required to rebuild a carb.

Here is the kit that I got:

Got it off eBay pretty cheap (like ~$10 to my door IIRC). It was pretty much all correct, except that the accelerator pump arm was wrong. Our carburetors need the one on the left. The kit came with the one on the right. NAPA was able to come up with the right one for me for about $12, but I didn't note the part number. I know, I know.....

If you need it, I'll see if I can dig up the receipt and get it.

That's everything I need right there! Thanks for the very good pic (with the part #), I'm going to E-mail that to them and see if that can get any results.
    THANKS

Holy cow, hope you don't end up having to spend $71 on a carb rebuild kit. That kinda money could almost buy you a 2 barrel intake. The 2 barrel Holley rebuild kits are much cheaper than that. Course, you'd have to pony up like $200 for a 2 barrel carb, but thats beside the point.
