    Sump...
Post by snuffy on Oct 18, 2006, 1:04pm

Again, I must draw on the collective wisdom of Zoners...

Repowering with a 6.9L diesel. Do I want to get a front or rear sump??? I recall there being some problem with this with another engine, but that was many moons ago on the old site.

    Thanks,

    Snuffy

Not sure on the 6.9, but the engine that was originally in my truck (351C) had a front sump. It hit the front axle in it's service.

Unless there is a driveshaft clearance issue, then I would go with rear sump.

All the Chevy engines are rear sump if that helps any. Along with the stock 230.

Rear sump is needed to avoid slapping the differential.
