Thread: cargo bed bolts and bushings

Default cargo bed bolts and bushings

Do the cargo bed bolts to frame need to be grade 5 bolts?
Also any source for the bushing and sleeves.
Finely getting back to my truck after 6 years with medical issues.
    Thanks Ed

I would certainly use no LESS than Grade 5 bolts. Can't answer the bushings and sleeves but surely, another will have the answer.

Was leaning toward grade 5 as I think grade 8 might be a bit brittle. Did fine some boat rollers to cut for the bushings. ( 2" OD with 1/2' centers ) Also found some sleeves the exact size.
Thanks for the vote for the grade 5's Don.

I thought there was a thread on here about maybe using a Cj6 body mount kit too maybe? But I would agree on the grade 5
    Is that real money?

Yes, grade 8 is for suspension parts and engine parts. Grade 5 would fit the bill. Grade 2, too weak...

Grade 8 will deform less before fracture, but will fracture at a much higher stress than grade 5 (110,000 PSI vs 150,000 PSI).

Grade 8 is almost always better...there are technical details and if you want the long answer, read the following link...it is what I believe the truth on the subject is from people who know it well:
