Thread: ignition options?

    Default ignition options?

Over the long weekend I finally got around to throwing in the Tornado I got from Tracy. What options do I have for ignition? My old engine, that ran when removed, has a Prestolite dist and fender mounted 12v coil. My main problem with it was I could never get the timing light to sync on the no.1 plugwire. It would sync on 2,4, & 5 only. I swapped the no.1 and no.2 wire, no help.

The new engine has the mil ignitor with civvy wires and plugs. Pardon me if this is really stupid, but is there a 12v coil that will work in the ignitor?

Is there an aftermarket all new electronic ignition that has been used on the 230?

    Thanks,
    Rob

Hey Rob, glad that engine found a good home. It was running like a peach when I pulled it, hope it gives you the same service.

The 'Ford' kit wouldn't fit in my 12vdc dist at all. Try the 'Pertronix' kit.
