    Not sure about the van 14 bolt, I'm sure it would work. Pickup ones work but you need a disc brake conversion to clear the leaf springs.

    I run a Dana 44 in a Ford Ranger with 39.5s and power brakes, they'll lock up the tires if I stomp on it. 37s on a Dana 44 under a M715 won't be bad compared to stock drums

    So revisiting this, I've found the following:


    60 front and rear from a Ford. 4.10 gears. Rear already has been converted to disc.

    Front and rear from a CUCV with 4.56 gears.



    Which is more desirable as far as install, etc.?

    If you have factory transfer case still, the Ford will not work.

    LS Swap with a 4l60e. I have 241s for either side drop.

    If you are going to mount the front spring under (stock), the Chevy axle will be much easier to fit due to the location of the differential.

    Gearing-wise, http://www.4lo.com has a nice gearing/RPM calculator. based on the engine's optimal cruise RPM range and your desired use, you can make an educated decision.
