Re: HYDRO STEERING MOD.
Post by tacomainoh on Dec 10, 2006, 8:58pm EDIT, since someone deleted the original post: This is a good cheap, TESTED, DURABLE ram assist kit. It is currently being run as you see it on several competition buggies, Tom Lawlor's 8000lb M715 on Rockwell's and 46's, and several fullsize rigs around CO and UT. It is not as flashy as other kits, but it has been proven to work quite well, and it's like $250. Pretty affordable. Anyway, check it out. http://rocklogic4x4.com/products/hydro_assist_2004.php ![]() Tapping the box yourself is pretty easy, there are about a million sites that will tell you how and where. Bob Cowan is also selling what should be a nice kit, and he can tap your box for you as well, if you don't feel it's within your abilities. |

Post by tacomainoh on Dec 12, 2006, 8:25pm If anyone wants any further specs on this kit, I'd be happy to get them. Easy install. And since this is open discussion: Rams rule with front lockers and big tires. They may have some utility on stock trucks w/flanges and a locker up front as well. Some of you might like that! I remember what at PITA my 725 was on 36's. |

Post by tacomainoh on Dec 13, 2006, 1:40am Yep. I was skeptical too, but it works. *shrug* It is designed solely to assist, I think. |

Post by elwenil on Dec 13, 2006, 8:12am We sheared the studs off of the knuckle using one of those. Trust me, they have a decent amount of power, lol. |

Re: HYDRO STEERING MOD.
Post by tacomainoh on Dec 13, 2006, 10:30am That's kind of their thinking: it is a big ENOUGH kit that is easy, affordable, and works well. Made sense to me then, and watching people beat the hell out of their buggies and trail rigs convinced me that it got the job done. Doesn't look as cool though LOL |

Re: HYDRO STEERING MOD.
Post by elwenil on Dec 13, 2006, 11:18am I have seen a few of the "homemade" Harbor Freight/Northern Hydraulics setups beat all to crap because the ram was too big and took a lot of abuse from rocks. The smaller cylinder fits in tighter spaces so it avoids a lot of that. Either way it works well and has more than enough power to tear junk up, lol. |
