I went and checked my lights on bertha and they were all rusted upand the bulbs were coroded in the sockets. I went out and bought a pair of the m35 composites for the rear and one of them was rusted some . I was talking to a guy last night about it and he told me to sand blast em and they'll work fine. I did tonight and it really works! both rear lights were beyond repair as the sockets and wires were gone but the fronts were repairable. I had never thought about it but it really works.

Put some dieletric grease on them. The current passes with less resistance and will help with corrosion. You can pick it up in Lowes hardware in the electrical dept or other eletrical stores. Dave

I found that taking the lights all the way apart, including pulling the wires from the sockets, tricky but do-able, and naval jellying everything gets rid of the rust...then I mased off the sockets themselves and painted the rest of it with good primer and paint....then coated the sockets with the grease as above, and of course, used stainless steel screws with anti seize compound to hold the faces on....also put silicone on the face mount, over the O-ring, and some silicone around the rear plug and on top of it between the wires.

Thanks for the info. My lights are just about the last thing I have to do before I get the exhaust and paint done other than removing the old engine and parts and junk out of the back end. I need to find the litter brackets on the ceiling and straps that were taken out also.
