    I think that I have the wrong alternator. I tried 2 different water pump pulleys, and they both line up fine with the crank pulley. It seems to be 1/4" back

    From the picture it looks like the alternator is a little too far forward. Is that what you mean?

    Is there supposed to be a washer between the alternator and the bracket? Is it possible the bracket is bent?

    Agreed, looks to me like a washer or 2 to adjust the alternator position should fix ya...unless I am missing it too.

    The picture doesnt do justice for the angles guys, it is actually too far back. I can mod the bracket, but Im not sure that I have the right alt or pulleys.

    I swapped the water pump pulleys for the 2 groove to the 3 groove type, but have the same thing (alt too far back).

    I am thinking maybe it is not the right alternator. For you guys who have been following my engine swap, I've went through 3 engines to get a good block. I am thinking that I mixed parts at my buddies house. He is out of town this week, so I'll have to wait to see what he has laying around

    Its a runner and a driver. I have a few things to finish up, but I ran her up to the gas station and but a few $ worth of diesel in it.
