Are the chains for the M37 tailgate the same for the M715, by any chance? Thanks.

Good question, Dxe!
I got some new chain at Ace Hardware for mine. They had a kind that matched the stock size almost exactly. Got some canvas chain cover sleeves from either Webee Webbing or New Life. Just like new!
The Ace Hardware chain is probably cheaper than what you'd find at...um...a place that sells vintage stuff.

Probably a good idea, Tim. There are some M37 chains I saw recently pretty cheap, was thinking about it. Guess I should get around to fabbing up some of the retention tabs for the sides of the bed, so I'd have somewhere to HANG the chains, haha.
Do you have your stock chains handy to measure your total length? My stock ones were pretty badly rusted under old rubber sleeves, so I bought new ones. I still have the orignals and can measure overall length for you if you need it.
I thought you dealt with those retention tabs long ago.
Slacker....

I dont know about the length, but the hooks are different from what I have found. The M-715 has a constant diameter wire type hook on the end or at least on my three trucks they did. The m-37 chain has a hook that looked to be stamped or forged with a wider area in the throat of the hook, or so I was told by a friend that has been into both of these trucks. He did say it wasnt gosple, but he was pretty sure.

Definately get sleeves when you get the chains though. The bed I got from Tacoma has no sleeves and the paint is worn down to bare metal anywhere the chains could touch.
They're quieter in combat too. Even when not in combat. (I hate those clang/k noises.)

I know its not stock but, I need to make a couple of new ones for mine. I think I am going to use a couple layers of heat shrink tube on mine.
I have used bike inner tubes, you can maky two from almost any single tube. Just remember to pop a hole in the center of the length for water to escape.

I had stiff rubber-ish ones on my truck when I got it. I wonder if that was stock. Or if they used canvas ones like I have now. Anyone know?
