Right now in my 454/TH400 conversion, I am modifying the stock crossmember and all 8 bolts that are holding the crossmember in are blue which I thought was kind of strange, anybody know why?

They're feeling really sad?
That's what I was going to say, but not in the TECH boards, eh?!
I didn't notice mine being blue. Could it have been a previous owner thing?

Are the bolts actually blue tinted, or are they just blue on the threads like Loctite?
Some Dorman bolts of years ago used to have a bluish tint to the them in the cad plating. Nothing special, just a manufacturing thing. The markings on the head will denote whether they are Grade 5, 8 etc.....
They are grade 8 and blue tinted...
That explains it. They are simply colored. I'd be willing to bet they aren't original, also.
Many stores (like tractor supply, etc.) have different colored bolts for the different grades. Purple - grade 5, Blue - grade 8. If you have blue bolts then they are not original.
