    Front leaf removal

    I know this was archived on the old site, but has anyone removed a front leaf or two for increased flex? if so (counting from the bottom leaf) which ones did you remove? I am doing spring over and really don't need all the added room that spring over provides and I would like the front to flex more. Were you satisfied with the results and how much difference did the leaf reduction make in ride height?

    Dave...you going SOA?

    If not, I'd leave the leaves alone. 38.5s will just barely rub at full stuff with stock springs, they flex a little more than you would think. Now the rears...you might as well have the axle welded solid to the frame

    What's soa? Think I've been insulted. I have been thinking the same thing but planing to leave a small leave to still keep the stock height of the spring pack but not much effect. Has this been tried? Did springs sag because of lack of support?

    SOA= Spring Over Axle.

    Too many d*mn acronyms to remember. Makes you wonder why abbreviation is such a long word...

    Richard, if you remove spring from a vehicle, it will certainly "sag" more than it did...to what degree I don't know.

    If 38.5s can rub stock....it'll only get worse with less spring. A guy could change the bump stops to counter this and possible realize some benefit up front, but I think there is far more to be gained by changing the rear springs.

    2 leafs can be taken out front and rear on non winch trucks...1 in front if a winch version...

    Calling the shortest leaf #1, take out #1 and #3.

    didn't someone try moving the bottom spring up higher in the pack to provide a overload type set-up..it would seem if you stuck #1 back in between say 2 and 3, you would allow the top springs to flex a little more, but still have the overload when loaded and pushing down on all the springs...

    this would seem to be similar to how F*rd sets up the SD trucks right now, with a gap between normal and overlaod section..
