Thread: help blowing off oil filters

    Default help blowing off oil filters

    when I started up our recently rebuilt engine it keeps blowing off the oil fiters
    what gives? I'm no expert but the new oil pump has no releif vale in it for that mater neither did the old one do I have the wrong pump?
    any insight would be apreciated 69 m715 with 230 ohv 6cyl

    The only time I have heard of this is when there is an old oil filter rubber gasket ring under the new filter...not much help on a fresh rebuild...

    the oil pump does have a relief valve, its inside under the end cover. for more see the manuals link in the page header the complete manual set is avialable for downloading there

    Default I will keep diging

    I still don't understand why a rebuilt pump would have no relief valve as well as the pump from the old engine ?thanks for the info this site is the best

    relief valve was there but stuck!
