    Jackshaft (intermediate shaft)
Post by porkchop on Oct 11, 2006, 2:57pm

I need one for my truck. I can get one from Lucky but it will need to be shortened and even then it might not be able to be shortened enough. What I am looking for is a good list of trucks that I may be able to get one from. The distance from center to center is 8 1/4" The xmsn has a 1350 yoke and the NP205 that I will be installing does as well. So where should I start looking?

74 or so Dodge truck, I think the 3/4 ton and up....has a divorced 205 with a jackshaft...

El will probably know the years better, but there are a couple years around that one that may have it...

I will try and measure my '66 Chevy 3/4 ton tonight. It has the divorced Rockwell t-case behind a SM420. I saw at least 4 or 5 like it on my drive over the weekend, so I know there are some in your area.

The shaft on the 70's era divorced case Dodges is about 13" long and it a bit longer then the normal M715 shaft. It also uses Detroit style joints so the yokes would all be different. For what it's worth, pre-1975 Dodges all had divorced cases, half ton included. Some of the 60s models should have used the Spicer style joints, but finding a shaft worth a crap from one of those might be tricky even if you can find one of the trucks. I finally nit the bullet and had a shaft made for my W100 when I put the big block in since it wasn't easy to find another replacement.
