    So whats the deal with the bolt on "thingy" on the hubs? I always thought they were chain downs. Neb. guys said pulley for rim winch. Where can I see or get one?

    They're lifting mounts. If you have the D-ring shackles they are designed to bolt on the hub covers allowing the truck to be airlifted. Should work w/ a hi-lift too. Of note, when the Army dropped the M-715's from the sky, the suspension was so stiff they were famous for bouncing and flipping over.

    The winch trick can be used, but is not the original intent.

    No spool or anything, just stick a tire iron through the holes and slip the end of the strap over it and give it a loop around the hub. I have personally used it once when I was burried up to my headlights and had already gimped the frames of two recovery trucks. 30 seconds and the wich method drug me out. It could probably kill a in the same 30 seconds if something went different than planned...I know I had some insane tension on the strap...guitar string (yikes)

    Airlifting and for lifting onto a ship for overseas transport....

    The big U shaped shackles pinned to the front and rear are mounted to the lifting hubs, thats what them things are called, with the pin that mounted the U shackles to the frame ends. A cable sling is hooked to the U shackle and away you go...
