    Default BBC header?

What headers fit the 715 with a BBC? I am thinking the mid 80's chevy truck will work but just want to make sure before I spend some big bucks on headers.

Really kind of depends on how you want to run your clutch and exhaust. Block huggers work great. So do stock cast iron manifolds for the most part.

You have two basic choices for the exhaust. Outside the frame on both sides or cross over to the passenger side under the cab and have dual exhaust on that side or all into one. The fuel tank gets in the way is why you have to make this choice.
Remember if you didn't build it you can't call it yours.

I was looking at block huggers but I am building a pretty big motor, upwards of 600 hp and tq. I dont want to be restricted by the headers. I will probably have the gas tank in the back of the bed and I am using a T400 for a tranny.

if you look in my build thread titled "found one" in the open disscusion area, there are pictures of my exaust as i routed it and somewhere in the thread are pics of my headers. they are hooker comps or super comps i cant remember which, but they are for 72 chevy 4x4 with a BBC swap. they fit rather well, i had to modify the #6 tube but it was easy and depending on how you position your engine that may not be an issue. it also has a manual with a clutch, but it is hydralic. since the truck is set up much like a chevy and uses mostly all chevy driveline stuff it all worked fine. the exaust was not that fun to make, but i cut and pasted out of mandrel bends. i also have a fuel tank in the stock position and the exaust is all above the frame for the entire run. it is 2 1/2" into a single 3. it may have been doable with 3" into a 3.5" or 4" the way i did it, but it would be tight.

Thanks Ryan, thats the info I was looking for. I am lucky enough to have an Exhaust shop in the family that can bend up a custom exhaust for me once I get everything bolted together.
