You will need the rad support out of the donor veh. so the bigger v-8 rad will fit. as for the trans and transfer I cant say

It's been done - one of our members had the entire drivetrain from (I think) a '79 or so FSJ, quadratrac included.

I used a 1969 buick 350 from a J-3000 Jeep pickup. Adapted to stock trans. It was fairly straight forward.

I am considering doing this, as I have an engine that has been offered to me if not free, then very cheap. Have you charted mileage at all? Just curious.

I am on my first tank of fuel still. Lots of run time in the shop and not too much driving. Looks like less than 10 mpg right now. I'm sure it will improve with the second and third tank. I have almost everything dialed in now, I think. Just need to drive some more. It's been a little difficult to drive since it's rained every day for the last week and half. My truck won't see rain for awhile.

Next weekend's looking to be okay. How about you fill the tank and drive it out here? Bring a brushguard or two for me to sell at the FE for you. That would give you a great example of highway MPGs.

I think I would be money ahead to drive something else. I'm not sure it is ready for that long of a trip. Maybe on the ferry? Well see I'm tentatively scheduled to go Sturgeon fishing next weekend.

You think you turn heads in that thing in Snohomish, try bringing it on the ferry where everyone has half an hour to kill!

You'd have a 45-minute drive from Kingston to my place if you took the ferry. Highway 3 is 60 mph. The boys have a music recital at 2 p.m. on Saturday, otherwise we'll be home. So that would be a long enough ride to be able to check mileage without making it too long a drive.
