Could someone please confirm my options for priming an oil pump. I replaced my oil pump and am installing it while the engine is whole and in place.

Spin the engine over with the ignition switch off.
I injected motor oil into my freshly rebuilt Tornado (with empty oil galleries) through the oil pressure sending unit hole using a new, small garden sprayer.
I done this until I seen oil seeping out of the camshaft.
But yes, just to prime a new oil pump, you can spin the engine over until you see oil pressure. I would remove all the spark plugs before doing it, allowing the engine to spin easier and to reduce any strain on the rod bearings
