As some of you may have read, I just filled in all of the fire department drilled holes, filled all of the rivet holes, stripped, painted and put new glass in my metal hard top. Before I put it back on the truck, I also insulated it. I used the heat shield mat that JC Whitney sells. I only had enough to do the back vertical part around the window. Even with the complete top surface waiting for the UPS truck to bring me more, I can tell a tremendous difference in noise. It no longer feels like I am inside a coffee can rolling down a hill.

I didn't expect this big of a difference. I was looking more for thermal insulation. I can only imagine what the difference would be with the entire top done and thick, thick bedliner applied to the cab tub.
Remember if you didn't build it you can't call it yours.

Insulation does help. Last weekend I installed a "headliner" I made out of some masonite into the hard top. I added some foam rubber between the headliner and top mostly to help pad the new dome light I added but it helped with noise too.
