    Default SBC Headers

    I need to get a set of headers for the 350 I am putting in my truck but I haven't put headers in a 715 before. What brand/style of headers work.

    Steve, most people have had good success with the "block hugger" style. The passenger side really only has to come down far enough back to clear the motor mount. The driver side has to do the same, but not be so far back that the clutch linkage is going to be in the way.

    The stock iron manifolds that came with your Vortec will work great and clear everything. What about Edelbrock or Banks headers for the '98 truck the engine came out of?

    One of the stock exhaust manifolds is MIA. Thought I might try headers if I can find one that fits.

    I have a right one from a '96 C2500 in my room. The owner should let me keep it when the truck leaves. Let me know if you need the right one or not.

    I have been doing the same research for my Kaiser. I am trying to replace the Rams Horn manifolds that I currently run. The problem that I see is on the drivers side near the clutch linkage. Most full-length headers come too close to the area of the oil filter and clutch linkage. The linkage for the clutch on my 715 w/ SBC 350 is more forward from the location on the SBC block. Because of this it looks like the only ones that can find in the Summit catalog will fit are the short, block-hugger styles. I am still looking for a full-length style that will fit with the clutch linkage and T98 PTO. If you find one let us know. I will do the same.

    I went with the ram horn style cast iron ones . Delt with headers on a daily driver before , it was a pain to maintain in a winter climate .The ram horns cleared everthing ok , though the 725 is a automatic ,with a column shifter . Found them on the net at 1A Auto for $59 each . They list a bunch of differant units , I found these listed under ; Chevy truck/SUV Van-P series forward control>1969-72 Chevy 5.7 . Part numbers PLP1390076 & PLP1390088

    I went with the same solution, also from A1 Auto. No complaints as yet, and they gave good/prompt service.

    I think that I have found the header style that I was looking for. They are shaped like block huggers but are long-tube design. Another good feature is the 1-1/2" small-tube primaries for low end torque. However, I need to get the measurements to ensure clutch clearance. http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku
