Thread: Parts? Fuel line and plug wire wrench?

Default Parts? Fuel line and plug wire wrench?

I've been cranking and idling my '68 M715 while I save money for parts. Today I found two fuel leaks, the first was arrested by tightening a clamp. The second one will require replacement. Facing the engine, it is on the bottom right of the block, rubber with 9/16" metal ends, connecting the hard line from the block to the hard line on the frame. Any idea where I can get this?

Also, any ideas on a plug wire wrench?

    Thanks,
    J.D.

I've seen a few plug wire wrenches on Ebay.

You can make a wrench pretty easily with a torch.

Get a 3/4 inch combo wrench, the cheaper the better. Heat and bend both ends right at where they join the center handle. Bend to 90 degrees.

Use your torch to cut an opening in the boxed end of the wrench to slip over the spark plug wire. Cut and grind smooth to 1/2 inch opening.

Use a 3/4 ratchet to loosen/tighten the spark plug wires or use an adjustable wrench on the main handle if you prefer.

I see the photo is a bit out of focus, but you get the idea.

I should have added, you have to grind on the outside of the box end to make it thinner, so it reaches all the way down into the cylinder head. Depends on how thick your wrench is to start with.

Great! Thanks for the help. I bought some "throw down" wrenches today.

I bought that hose from VPW a couple years ago...either they or Memphis should have it.
