    What's your Gap?
    Post by over2land on Oct 9, 2006, 9:35pm

Ok, I got one of fisherman's custom fishy-fab brush guards.

Toolman dun brought it down for me.

Anyway, prior to this I had the gap on the hood set 1/8-1/4 inch. That's where it seemed to look the best. My truck never had a brushguard while I've owned it, so I don't know what the gap in the hood should be, that's just what looked right to me.

Anyway, I'll be putting the brushguard on later tonight as I've got it all welded up, and I'm just waiting for paint to dry now.

I've now got the gap between the hood and the fenders at about 1/4-3/8 inch. I think my hood is tweaked, but not sure.

Anyway, I was wondering if your hoods are also set at 1/4 in the front corner of the hood to clear the brush guard mounting tabs, of is my hood really tweaked?

    Thanks.

    **UPDATE**

I was out this weekend doing some other stuff and decided to check left versus right side gap...passneger side is just under 1/4 inch...as above...drivers side was dead on 3/8ths inch....

Thought you might find that interesting....

    Yep, good to know, thanks.

I think mine is jacked as mine is say 3/8 in the middle of the driver's side of the hood, but 1/4 at the front and back.

I can check them numbers too...but I would bet the front to rear should be constant...as you already surmised...I'll throw a straight edge on my NOS hood in the shop...

Here is a pic of my NOS hood with a level next to the edge...note that it does arc from front to rear...more at the front...

Comes out to about 1/4 to 1/3 of the way back from the front edge, the hood had risen from the straight edge by .415 inch...then it more gradually goes back down to 0.

    Who woulda thunk....

    Thanks dude.
