Thread: Tire and rim help needed

I picked up a set of custom rims from a buddy last week. Really nice rims. They have M715 centers welded into 16.5 x 10" tubeless rims. the back space is the same as stock rims. The width moves to the outside edge of the rim. I have been studying these and it looks like I can go pretty big on tire size. Researching the old sites show that 37" is the largest that can be used on the stock rims. Would that apply to these as well. There seems to be a ton of space under there. I found a killer deal on a set of 42 x15.5 x 16.5's. Any ideas if these would fit?

    Thanks,
    VaM715

38's lightly rub the leaf springs at full lock. Since you moved the outter beat outwards and left the inboard one the same - it stands to reason that you'll gain nothing in tire height selection. You can go WIDER, just not taller.

The only bad thing about 16.5" rims is that they don't have a "safety bead", and the tires will become unseated pretty easily when 'wheeling with low tire pressures. A friend of mine used to have 16.5" wheels/tires on his Jeep, but got tired of having to reseat the tires constantly. We run 15" tires at 5-10 psi all the time with few problems, but the 16.5's can't handle that. If lowering tire pressure is something you never do, then the 16.5's will probably work just fine. Good Luck.

if that's a concern, and money grows on trees at YOUR house heheh, TrailReady will make 16.5 beadlocks, at least, they did for OffRoad Design.

To run 42s you wil have to do a spring over.

42s will still rub with a spring over in the front on full compression of the suspension.
