Default Show me your winch (BUILT) winch bumpers

    Hey all,

    I'm building a winch bumper for a Warn M12000. It's a feet-forward mount/design, like the 8274 does.

I putzed around making the mounting brackets today, but I'm having a hard time coming up with a design I like for the mounting the forward plate and still not causing other problems.

    The concerns I have are:
    1) cannot drastically diminish the approach angle (like the stock winch bumpers do).

    2) Has to sit low enough so that the mounting plate/winch don't adversly affect cooling.

    3) Has to be stong enough to handle a 1200# winch.

So what have you guys seen or built? I'm no Ryanroo, but I have some tools around and I'd like to build something nice if I can get inspired.

Do a search for Fisherman's bumper. Nice design.

It's a nice looking piece, but still a little too stock for my tastes... Also my winch is probably 50% physically larger so there's no way it would tuck in like that

Hmmm, I will have to search thru all my saved pics now and see what I can find.

There is the hidden winch option - no idea if the M12000 would even fit in it IF you could find one of them.

I think "scary" pretty much sums that one up. While I've referenced his site a lot over the years, that one looks like the worst idea in the history of bad ideas.

Here are some I've pulled out of my archives:

While each has it's drawbacks, I think it will wind up being a combination of the three.

I like the way the ARB bumper looks, the design on the beige one would fit my sized winch, and the position of the bumper on the black one gives me some ideas.

I knew I could be good for something, Speedo Joe's. Ignore the mud.
