    Priming, painting progress

My tailgate ready to prime. Hood's a mess. But I have to live with it a while.

There it is primed. Not quite dry yet though. Tailgate's still a mess. Tough dent to fix there. But hey...it's an army truck for crying out loud!

Hey! How did you get my tailgate?!

Oh wait, that one is a little nicer than mine. The one good thing about that dent is that the chain on the left side always stays put. The right side chain will fall out off road, but the other one has enough pressure on it to keep the tailgate from flopping down and dropping all my junk on the trail.

Take a swazall or cutoff wheel and cut straight up through the center of the dent, apply some heat and pull both sides out straight, put a piece of copper behind it with a piece of steel for strength, clamp it all together and mig weld up the cut. weld wont stick to copper and weld will be flat on the inside. polish off the outside weld and NO DENT !!!!!!!

Dang, Bob! You've got a repair solution for EVERYTHING. I'll have to file that one until I get a welder.

Looking good Tim, are we gonna shoot it next weekend, I mean paint it. Maybe actually shoot it then paint it. Give it a true military look with a couple extra holes before we painted it. Lol. I 'll keep in touch , but I think I'd be up for this next weekend. Fisherman
