Thread: Frame Serial Number Location

    Default Frame Serial Number Location

I've been told that are is a serial number stamped into the frame on M715's. I have looked on a couple of my 715's and haven't had any luck finding one. I've looked on the passenger side frame rail at the right rear and also right front close to the tire area. Is there really numbers on the trucks stamped into the frame. I would think there should be since all the M35's have them and the Dodge Military trucks WC's and M37's all have stamped front left frame numbers. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks!
    John

The factory put them there. The locations you cited are correct.

Whether they have stood the test of time? Use a wire brush on the top flange of the pass. rear frame above the axle. It might appear.

My frame is fairly clean, but its still tough to see.

    John,
If you stick your head inside the passenger rear wheel well until you hit the inner fender, the number should be just under your nose. A little wire brush or sanding might be needed to see it, but it should be there. It won't be nice and deep and even like on a M35 though. I mentally picture some work program Kaiser had for the special ed school down the street from the factory every time I see those numbers. They almost look like a random bunch of numbers on some trucks.

The front number location on the 715 here in my class is on the raised pad an inch or so rear of the passenger side radiator support bolt. Inside the triangle formed by the frame and the frame corner support piece. Again, very weak numbers not lined up and not spaced right.

    Hope this helps.

The numbers on my M715 were deep, clean and aligned. My '63 J300 has them in the same areas, it looks like a monkey with a hammer and a punch stamped them. If DMV ever decides to look at them, they are going to think they are fake

Either that, or maybe they'll think their brother did it.

    I'm just saying....

I've seen them on the front where Tim said too.
