I know this question has been asked before but I cannot find it or the answer. Perhaps someone could put the answer in the FAQ so that, once and for all, we have it. Perhaps others are like me and don't have a shop with an assortment of bolts that can be used to find the right one. I would appreciate someone sharing bolt length and size so I can install my belts. Thanks in advance.

No sweat...and as soon as we get the FAQ setup the way we want it, we will be posting this and other info there...its working...

The bolts are 7/16th FINE thread...make sure to tap the holes, just to be safe, and use grade 8 bolts for strength.
The lengths are different for the 2 bolts, I used a micrometer to measure down from the cab...I really am not in the mood to try and untorque mine right now to measure them, but it seems they varied from around 2 inch to 3 1/2 inch or so for the inner ones...the outer ones are quite short and if I remember right, are both the same length as each other...like an inch or so...just make sure you have enough room to go through the nut a couple turns...at least 1 full but 2 is better...
I'll look on the old board we had on this site and see if I can find anything on the lengths...

Hmmmm....according to the old message board on this site, they are 3/8inch bolts with 24 threads per inch...old Yahoo listed the 7/16ths...gotta go to the dentist after lunch, then dork aroud a bit...will try to check the size when I get home again...if the freakin weather improves!!
Its snowing with 50 MPH winds drifting the crap...wonderful.

Engineer friend says to never replace G-8 with G-5 unless you have good reason and know the numbers--Grade 8 is not stronger than Grade 5 in all situations (shear vs. tension). He sez that Grade 8 will break in some circumstances where 5 would not...more brittle/whatever, where the 5 has a little more give.

    Anybody know for sure?

Gr 8 is best for tension but more brittle and will shear under a sharp side load. Gr 5 will bend more before shearing but won't hold as much tensile load.
