    Shackle bushings?
Post by mikel on Nov 1, 2006, 6:39pm

    Hello,
Do M715 shackles have bushings in the side that attaches to the frame?
    Thanks,
    Mikel

Not sure what you mean by that Mikel. I just put new shackles on my frame. They came as a whole unit, with bushings and sleeve already installed in the shackle if that's what you mean.

    Hello,
What I mean is that there is no metal to metal contact anywhere, that both ends of the shackle are rubber cushioned. Is this correct?
    Thanks,
    Mikel

Yes both ends of the shackles for the front springs, have the bolt tube surrounded by rubber. I had to use a two pound sledge and widen the shackle mounts on the front of the frame to get my new ones in. Yes there is metal to metal contact where the bolt tube through the shackle touches the frame mount where the bolt slides thru. Just a pivot point though. The front rear shackle mounts are fixed on the frame. Same setup on rear of rear leafs as on front of front leafs. Hope this helps.

A few years ago Memphis had them on sale for nine or ten dollars apiece. I bought them then.
