As a testament to the stubborness of these old trucks, I have finally started my engine in my 1967 M-715, the first step to my restoration plan. The engine was running when it was parked some 17 years ago, and has been neglected since then. With a little TLC in the form of PB Blaster to un-stick the engine, along with a carb kit, new fuel pump & new hoses, it blasted to life the other day. It may be wishfull thinking, but I'm hoping that I won't have to do major engine work for a while.
The startup was not totally without incident, however. I must replace a freeze plug, but I also desperately need a new valve cover gasket. I tried the NAPA part number for the gasket from the Parts List, but it is no longer available. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
