    Default Moving winch back

    Hello,
One thing I never liked about the M715's LU4 is the terrible overhang it gives to the front. Would it be possible to mount it a few inches to the back, eliminating the crossmember that bolts to the frame? My winch is in the basement, so I can't really see how it goes or if this is a stupid idea. I just think there has to be a better way to mount it...

    Mikel,

I was able to get Frapguy's winch fully behind the front crossmember. He's running a 350 so the radiator is spaced a good 3 or 4 inches toward the engine and he's using a Ramsey winch.

With the radiator in the stock location you won't get a lot of room and I'd strongly recommend against cutting out the front crossmember (On Frapguy's I doubled the crossmember with 2x4x1/4 tube and built a rear one from 2x2x1/4 tube).

I thought about the same thing, and decided that I'm going to just angle the bumper back to the body from the frame extentions.
