    Default Ford 300

Has anyone ever put a Ford 300 Inline six in their M715?

If you have, would you recommend it? Any particularly good or bad parts of the engine or the installation process?

I would have to agree, the sbc is cheap and easy and parts are off the shelf anywhere. The effort to adapt the Ford 6 may cost more than the entire chevy swap.

All you need to do is buy a T-18 Ford trans. Their cheap, I paid 125.00 for mine and just put new oil in it. It will bolt right up and unless you have a winch, it works great. I have a 351 Cleveland with the T-18 in mine. The T-18 (which is called the rock crusher) is basically the same as the T98 except the T-18 has better insides, and has the PTO on the passenger side. The Ford T-18 is one of the top 3 non-overdrive transmissions made. Be different, everyone and their sister puts in a 350 chevy.

Luckypabst put a fuel injected 300 in his truck. He then proceded to drive it all over Southern California. Including some places that the access road looks scary. He reported it was great. Chris should see this sometime in the future and chime in.
Remember if you didn't build it you can't call it yours.

I realize this is a little old judging from the date. You likely already put in a sbc. There is a guy in VA that substituted a Ford 300 in line six. Had to make an adapter plate but was nothing too difficult. He was in a back issue of either Peterson's or Four Wheeler. His name is Bill Gallihugh and he lives around Mt. Pelier, VA. If you need his number drop me a note. I can find it. The 300 six for all you non-Ford fans had a pretty good history of being a reliable torquie motor.

The adapter plate is not rocket science but does require an above average skill to measure right and make maily to get the depth s right.

    Thanks
