    Default My build continues

The build of my '68 715 that was going to take a week looks like it will take all summer. It has rained for the last week & a half which makes it hard to work out side. But progress is being made. The '78 Ford NP205 is now in place resting on mostly the stock mounts combined with some brackets that came with the t-case.

The front and rear drive lines are connected up using combination size u-joints that fit the Ford yokes and the stock shafts.

I may use the center from a CV joint to make the shaft between the trans and t-case.

The next step will be to cut out and move the engine brackets to line up with the engine mounts. The engine is setting on the exhaust manifolds now.

I'm in the same ark, brother - been raining almost every day here.

Have a J-truck ripped apart waiting on nice weather and a not-so-lazy owner to get going on it.

Got the jack shaft in today. Used the center part of a CV joint as a shaft.

Here is the new CV shaft with the original shaft next to it.

The slip yoke in the trans is the stock Chevy part seperated from the drive shaft.
The shaft I used is the center section from a double cardin CV joint. The part I used is Precision #647 from O'Reilly's. These can also be gotten from old Caddy drive shafts, but its worth the 45$ to just put the new parts together.

The ujoints are Precision #445, a combination size joint to adapt the trans yoke to the smaller CV center. The second joint is #319 to adapt the CV to the Ford NP 205 t-case. This same joint worked to adapt the stock drive shafts to the t-case.
With the back nearly done I can start working on the front engine mounts.

Looks great, thanks for the info!

How did you figure out how/where to mount your transfer case and trans/engine combination to keep everything in line?
