    Default Vacuum required for windsheild wipers?

    Does anyone know what the required vacuum to run the windshield wipers? Need to check the old ones.

    My 396 idles in the 16-18 " range and the wipers work great. They work slowly under load and climbing hills so, I would suggest you find a source 15" or higher to test them with.

    I don't think I have seen a spec on the vacuum pump. If I did, I promptly for got it.

    If you don't have a source and don't want to hook it to a regular car engine just to test. Put a T into an air pressure line and that will run them.
    Remember if you didn't build it you can't call it yours.

    I have never seen a spec either...next time I am near a vacuum gauge and a running truck....
