GVW

Post by seanjames on Dec 13, 2006, 12:36pm Well that would of been obvious if I owned one but I am still saving money, Have one in the scope. I was curious because if is over 10,000lbs it is exempt from lift laws here in missouri. I thought most one tons are 10,000lbs. I know that some one tons are less, I think some dodge diesels are. |

Post by goose on Dec 14, 2006, 9:13am The GVW is what the vehicle weighs as it sits there with various equipment. The GVWR is what the manufacturer has rated the vehicle to weigh with whatever load you can put on it. Or the max the vehicle can weigh with load. The law you refer to is for the GVWR. Basically it was designed to exept commercial motor vehicles because once you get over 10,000 GVWR and are used in interstate commerce, your a commercial vehicle. Not very many sigle axle trucks are over 10K GVWR, typically has to be a dually before the manufacturer will rate it over. Looking at the other link I would say the GVWR is 8900for the M715 with winch. However the M726 w/w is 9400. Thats the same frame and drivetrain, but higher rating. So I don't think there really is a rating listed by Jeep/Kaiser. |

Also, 10K lbs and up GVWR for light duty trucks is a fairly new deal and hasn't been around very long. The new Dodge Chassis Cab can be had in a single rear wheel configuration with a GVWR of 10,200 lbs and with the dual rear wheels it goes up to a max of 12,750 lbs when properly equipped. |

The GVW numbers are: M715: WOW: 5500 WW: 6000 M725: 6400 M726: WOW: 6500 WW: 7000 Payload, Cross Country, Limited: M715, all: 2500 M725: 2000 M726 all: 2000 Payload, Highway: M715, all: 3000 M725: 2000 M726, all: 2500 I can break that down by GVW and GVWR by each axle if needed. |

The GVW is without any additional body other than the cab and without the crew allowance. |
